ELLEN DRYDEN’s first play, NATURAL CAUSES was produced by Max Stafford-Clark. Her next play, HARVEST, was directed at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre by Peter Farago and later produced at the Ambassador’s Theatre, London, which led her to be nominated as Most Promising Newcomer by the magazines Plays and Players and Drama, with HARVEST being nominated as Best New Play. In 1992 her and her husband Don Taylor, founded FIRST WRITES THEATRE COMPANY LTD., devoted to new writing. Since the death of her husband, Ellen has become the Artistic Director of First Writers and is also regularly commissioned to write dramas for BBC Radio.
