JONATHAN LARKIN is a Liverpool-based queer writer working across TV, theatre, and radio. He spent 17 years as a core member of the HOLLYOAKS (Channel 4) writing team, where he created two of the show’s first trans characters and brought an authentic working-class voice to the series.
His online series PROPER MESSY (Conker Media/BBC Switch) was shortlisted for a Broadcast Digital Award, and he currently has an original crime drama series in development with Long Story TV.
For the stage, his play CHERRY JEZEBEL (dir. James Baker, Everyman Theatre, Liverpool), starring Mickey Jones, was nominated for Best New Play by the UK Theatre Awards and received rave reviews. Other plays includes PARADISE BOUND (Everyman Liverpool and Soho Theatre) receiving widespread critical and popular acclaim; and FORGIVE THEM (Mersey Bite at Hampstead Theatre, and the Everyman’s Everyword Festival). Jonathan’s plays are published by Methuen Drama.
For radio, his work includes LOST IN LIVERPOOL (BBC Radio 3).
