The Octagon, Bolton’s TREASURE ISLAND, with Book by KATE FERGUSON and Music & Lyrics by SUSANNAH PEARSE:

THE STAGE (4 stars)
Pearse’s score, inspired by a range of genres from sea shanties to calypso and jazz, is capably performed by cast members playing a dizzying array of instruments. 

THE REVIEWS HUB (3 stars)
The cast of singer actor-musicians are accompanied by a large young company taking, in the main, the role of the pirate crew and who are very strong. Pearse gives them some amusing songs especially about being given the cursed Black Spot or about pirates who are trying to conceal their identities…

THE BRICK CASTLE
 It is incredibly impressive and Bolton Octagon have made excellent use of all of that space, with a huge set.

music & lyrics by Susannah Pearse were original and had a lovely folk vibe and featured a live band on stage, often played within the scenes by the multi-talented adult cast; one of my favourite features of the show. 

THE BOLTON NEWS
The Octagon Theatre’s fun-filled musical rendition of the classic pirate story had both my partner and I laughing at points throughout the show…Overall a fantastic show, with talented actors and a truly beautiful set.
